3 Minerals that Reduce Cellulite


Cellulite is a condition of the skin which looks like dimples or bump-like appearance on the epidermis or the surface of the skin, occurring when there is weakening of the connective tissues.

Mineral #1: Phosphorus

One of the factors that affect the appearance of cellulite is aging. Having enough amount of selenium in the body prevents premature aging which also means one factor causing cellulite is being battled out already. Just make sure to have the right amount of the mineral. Judith Wills noted in his “The Food Bible” that the mineral selenium works perfectly with Vitamin E in producing prostaglandin which is essential for the growth of skin and nail. Sources of selenium include canned tuna, cashews, salmon, walnuts and whole-wheat breads.

Mineral #3: Zinc

One of the minerals that the human body cannot function without its existence is zinc. The mineral zinc is present in every part of the body. It is seen in fact as very necessary in the growth and development of the tissues of the skin. This property is responsible in the reduction of cellulite appearance in the skin. Zinc is as well related with immunity. It helps the wounds to heal fast and protects the human body from free radicals. Deficiency of the mineral may results to hair problems like hair loss and skin problems such as stretch marks. To be able to avoid these problems and other more unwanted results due to the lack of zinc, eat foods rich in zinc. Sources of zinc include cashews, Parmesan cheese, pumpkin seeds, seaweed, sunflower seeds and wheat germ. Foods which are rich in proteins such as beef, chicken, fish, lamb, peanut butter and pork are also source of zinc.

More scientific studies are needed to support the claim that the above minerals help in reducing cellulite. Meanwhile, you may choose to eat food sources of these mineral. But if you wish to take in supplements, it is better to consult your doctor first.
